I am concerned about vulnerabilities to failure of the BBS02 48V 750W Controller. The original one in my BBS02 kit failed in a manner that I consider typical of static electricity damage. My first replacement had a partial failure with motor torque and power decreasing by more than 50%, and this seems to have been caused by overheating. I advise being careful to avoid overheating, including use of lower gear ratios and being conservative with use of high motor assist settings to minimize usage of high assist level when RPM is low. In addition, I advise gear ratio low enough to mostly achieve spinning over 90 RPM when the assist level is at a medium or high setting to minimize heating of the motor and its controller. In stop-and-go traffic such as in urban courier / delivery usage of a bike, I advise the rider to make human effort towards accelerations to decrease work demand on the motor and its controller when RPM is low. 750 watts is more than usual for urban delivery bikes. Also, I wish this controller would have its design enhanced to improve detection and handling of overheating.

This is the second Bafang E Bike kit we have purchased. We have been very happy with the way the bike runs, smooth and fast. Install required some work but is quite doable for do it yourselfer.
Generally it was a smooth swap except two points.. * the battery connector type is anderson connector.. had to buy a anderson to xt60 *cannot control speed using throttle anymore
The BBS02 controller design has stayed the same for years, so it's easy to replace.
