The Bafang BBS02 750 watt motor kit is a high-performing, lightweight, quiet, fast, hill-climbing, well-engineered electric bike kit. The Bafang mid-drive BBS02 750w motor mounts in place of your bike's bottom bracket and replaces your bike's crankset and front derailleur if you have one.
The Bafang Front Hub Motor offers both throttle and pedal assist power. You can always use the throttle in order to engage the motor if you want to take a break from pedaling! These Front Hub Motors have a suprising amount of torque and are fast as they are designed to be able to go 20+ MPH!
The Bafang 750W Mid-Drive Motor is superior to both Rear and Front Hub Motors because it offers a balanced low center of gravity. On a standard bike, the weight of the motor is balanced directly in the middle of the bike down in your bikes bottom bracket. This allows for a better riding experience with a balanced low center of gravity with this motor located in your bike's bottom bracket.
The Bafang 750W Mid-Drive Motor is superior to both Rear and Front Hub Motors because the full power of the motor acts on your bike's chain transmitting the power directly to your bike's rear gears. This allows for the power of the motor to be transmitted directly into your bike's existing drivetrain leveraging your bike's rear gears for superior performance through mechanical performance.

I installed the BBS02 on my Trek Xcaliber 29er Mountain bike and it was really easy. I’m really surpised that the motor is practically silent ( I can’t hear it over the buzz of my MTB tires). I recommend you have a pedal removal tool, bottom bracket removal tool and spring for the optional mid drive installation tool that comes with the kit. I went step by step through the online video which made it super easy. The only snag was my fault. I chose the wrong size sprocket. I chose a 42T and now my chain is too short for the big sprocket on my 9 speed cassette. I just ordered a 36T sprocket. I have hydraulic disc brakes so I used the magnetic brake sensors which were easy to install. In comparison, I did a conversion on my wife’s Giant about a year ago using a different rear hub motor kit and this install was 10X easier. I live at the top of a big hill which is the high point in Ann Arbor, this just makes riding our bikes into town so much better.
The performance of the BBS02 is 3x better than my expectations!! Support from Ebike Essentials was great. I was well prepared for my first build with lots of research to see issues others had. I took the bike apart before it arrived. Only took about 2 hours to install and fix issues. First ride went 10 miles averaging 30mph on a Schwinn Fremont hybrid. I’m not educated on bike building but I am a mechanical engineer so that helped quite a bit. There is a lot to learn and it may take you more time but anyone can do it with patience.
This is our second 750 watt kit. My wife 85 rides the first one. In order for me to keep up with her I had to join the e-bike folks. Hers is a year old and we have had no problems with it. So I decided to get an Ebike. It is a very smooth ride. Now when I get home from a 15 mile each day I still have energy to do other things. Thank you for producing such a nice product.
Prompt delivery, enjoyable assembly experience, and recommended you to a friend,!!!!
Great mid-drive kit and I have installed on two person bikes and four more for friends and neighbors. Here are couple design suggestions: 1. Speed sensor magnet is to large, and I can’t find good spot on 700 wheels to place magnet without hitting the sensor. I recommend a smaller battery and have been buying third party magnets to avoid hitting the sensor. 2. Modify the battery holder to accommodate zip ties to hold the wiring on down tube. I typically run wires up the down tube to the handle bars, and must zip tie the to the tube. It would be nice to have ziptie eyelets in bottom of battery holder to strap cables on the bottom of the battery. Overall performance for personal use and comments from friends and neighbors is good. It has been good mid-drive the past 18 months helping us haul groceries, and hardware to our home requires a 600 foot climb. Not a bad 2-wheeled vehicle for travel as well.
